Psychic joins hunt for missing parrot
A DISTRAUGHT couple have resorted to using
a PSYCHIC to track down their beloved missing parrot - and still desperately
cling to hope that their beloved pet may be found.
The psychic told owners Joyce and Peter Mearns, of North Road, Holloway, that
the blue fronted Amazon Green could be lured home with a pink toy. The initially
sceptical couple were stunned - because the parrot, called Georgie, had doted on
a pink teddy bear from birth.
After the psychic also revealed that the bird - who escaped from the family home
in January - was dwelling near trees the couple have taken to roaming Hampstead
Heath every day playing taped bagpipe music - once Georgie's favourite.
They have stopped short of hiring an expensive bag-pipe player to tempt Georgie
back - but have put up over 2,000 missing posters since the disappearance. They
have also targeted TV and radio stations in a concerted media campaign to find
the bird, offering a reward of £500 for its return.
Mrs Mearns, 55, said: "He was a cheeky character - he had such lovely ways. I
remember when my sister died I was crying - he came and gave me a hug to cheer
me up. The Parrot Society gave me a baby parrot to look after but it's not the
same. He was my baby - it's like losing a child."
Mrs Mearns is convinced Georgie - who loves drinking tea and has his own plasma
TV, stereo and bedroom back at home - may yet be found. She added: "I won't ever
give up on him no matter what happens. I miss him all day every day. Life is not
the same without him - I love him at least as much as my own children. If people
see him and call his name he may come down to them and they can throw a coat
over him."
The missing parrot specialises in singing the nursery rhyme Georgie Porgie.
Anyone who finds him should call Mrs Mearns on 07854 653507 to claim the reward.
