Would you like to know how you can improve your articles chances of being read!
Then read on...
1. Submitting articles is a great way of communicating your knowledge, and could certainly launch you into a career of authoring in your specialised field. Articles strategically placed will also increase your chances of work being distributed over the net and the time invested could certainly pay off, as traffic will be generated to your web site and/or the service you provide.
2. Nobody likes to read a monotonous piece of text, so write your article like you would to a friend. Readers are more likely to read your article if you speak directly to them rather than down to them, in simple terms, use simple words.
3. Not every website administrator/editor will have the time to wade through your work correcting your errors. Spell check and make sure your work is grammatically correct, there is nothing worse than having your work displayed in a manner that would portray you in a bad light. Print it off and read it out loud, preferably to someone else, so any errors can be picked up, allowing you to correct them before submitting.
4. Don't be discouraged by huge sites, there maybe thousands of articles the chances are someone will read your article at some time, and if it's easy to read and interesting more likely to get read a lot.
5. By submitting to the right category, you will be increasing the chances of your literary masterpieces, being picked up by the search engines. If you are able to submit to more than one category then do, but make sure it's related, for example an article on colour therapy, you would add it to colour therapy, or nearest such as therapies, holistic health etc.
6. Make your title interesting! If you make your title uninteresting, it will reflect and no one will want to read it, even if the article itself is fantastic. Make it catchy to the eye and spend time on it.
7. Don't be tempted to write about a topic you are not well versed in, it will require lots of research and you will soon lose interest. Write about what you know and let it flow!
8. Articles are a way of distributing information from experience you have gained, and the desire to pass this on to others. If constructed well, they will fire up the imagination and inspiration of the reader.
9. Don't use this wonderful platform as a blatant selling technique! If you wish to promote your business do it in a subtle way, otherwise readers will see right through your article and see for what it is, an ad!
10. Read the posting guidelines and article length restrictions including character spaces. You don't want to create this wonderful article only to find that you can't submit it all.
11. Remember behind every website you submit to, there is a real person that will decide the fate of your article, and you are asking for exposure in return for them supplying space within their database, usually for free, so take your time and be courteous.
12. Remember quality is far better than quantity, if too long an article, it can become laborious to read, try to keep your article under a page (A4) and a half of text approx 5000 - 6000 characters including spaces.
13. Be proud! Include your name, and don't forget to briefly describe what you do in relation to the article, add your website and an email for others to contact you. Don't make it overwhelming, just enough, otherwise...it starts looking like an ad again.
14. If your long-term goal is to be recognised as a serious article writer then you are going to have to submit articles on a regular basis. Be consistent, and you will probably gain quite a following.
15. Some sites may not accept your article, don't be discouraged; there are plenty of article sites out there. You may even get people email you, asking for permission to place your article on their website, if it's captured their attention.
16. Keep an eye on your statistics, most web sites you will submit to have a system to tell you how many views your article has had, or comments that have been left. If neither of these are available it doesn't mean you are not getting the traffic, you can track your link from the article to your web site, by monitoring your websites statistics.
If the article is popular this will reflect by the amount of views, comments, or hits to your website. If it's not very many, take it that something is not working, and you may need to do something to increase a return on your invested time and potential income.
